The question why did God command Saul to destroy Agag, every Amalekite and everything they possess? The Psalmist answers this God administers the law by the curses. Ps 38 3 Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;my bones have no soundness because of my sin.4 My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear.5 My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly". This is one of the seven penitent Psalms. The Psalmist complains in the context of the bodily pain united with personal sin. We suffer a sickness or injury the pain points to the struggle with the curse. This is why the Psalmist describes death as an experience of bondage.Because the curse regulates death. Just as the unity of our struggle so sin and corruption are constantly together by the curse. The Psalmist repents by describing this experience as a reminder that the curse leads to pain and death. The question why would God demand the death of enemies of him was satisfied with personal repentance? Because we may be acceptable by personal forgiveness that staves off death but we will experience the curse of the wicked. Even if we were personally accepted, striking hands with covenant breakers is an punishable offense to God. This is why in the Penitent Psalms he includes the curses. 38 11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds;my neighbors stay far away.12 Those who seek my life set their traps. Those who would harm me talk of my ruin;all day long they plot deception." We face inward and outward curses. We must eliminate all wicked opposition practicing original sin as a legitimate threat of violence toward the saints. The curse leads to legal wars. We must eliminate all violent opposition. Anytime we willingly allow criminal violence to severely threaten the gentle saints we are unlawful. It is ordinary for personal sin lead to pronounce the eternal curse which leads to subduing and apprehending the organized opposition. One naturally follows the other. Even tho God allowed the sacrificial worship of other gods in Israel, He commanded to bitterly curse them. Because God follows the terrible curse in divine creation of legal wars. This is why God typically commanded Israel to conquer their unqualified enemies.
