Let me talk about my personal experience with this culture of teaching sanctification without a disciplined prayer life in praying the Psalms. The first principle that we must always focus on is there is no such work that we do that is it unjustified. All of us are given the law of God and we are made to justify our actions and who we are by the perfect image of Christ. We cannot act with being justified.
Any time we say that Justification and Sanctification are two different occupations we are saying that in sanctification we are measured on a sliding scale. My friends that is a recipe for disaster. The question is how do I know if God accepts my action that is not justified? Someone must make a standard that everyone must follow. We joke about the contradictions of the liberals but the idea that there is a sliding scale is as bad as their contradictions. We start to live in an impersonal world where other people make the rules.
In order for the action to be real to us we must be convinced that is what we will do and we must be justified in doing it. It is better to do something wrong with the desire to be justified than to live under the rules of other people. Without justification being the reason that we are justified in our actions we live under the rules of men. When we write or speak describing the christian experience as a paradox we are saying that what cannot be understood is how we describe the mystery Calvin only said once there was two lines...he never uses that in his writings.
If there is a different standard of justification in the third use of the law then we must obey the rules without the promise of being guaranteed the treatment by God according to Christ standard of obedience. There is not difference between the desire to live and the accomplishment that we obtain in justifying our actions The whole point of being treated better than we deserve is that our justification is not an imagination In other words there is no real justification without the legal declaration and the defense of our actions by law.
If we are not treated by God according to Christ acceptance then God did not really accept Christ work on our behalf. In other words there are two different standards of law keeping In order for God to establish a relationship with us , He had to make it in compliance with all the law. If God established a relationship with us by any other standard than the highest justice then He would cease to be God. We must be justified in our occupations according to the standard of the law that was met in Christ or all of the work that was accomplished in redemption was wasted.
