Isa 28 9 "Who is it he is trying to teach? To whom is he explaining his message? To children weaned from their milk,to those just taken from the breast?10 For it is:Do and do, do and do,rule on rule, rule on rule;a little here, a little there." This section is absolutely stunning. The question If God wrote the law with such detail, and very harsh judgements why would he be against doing the commands? If God promotes sanctification surely, it will be important to proceed with a little growth. I mean, He is not looking for us to change all at once! Then God has the nerve to command us to do the law but condemns us for not resting on Him? 12 to whom he said,"This is the resting place, let the weary rest";and, "This is the place of repose"--but they would not listen. These theologians will say, He suggests it but in fact does not mean resting. How can God condemn them for not listening to Him and yet demand they obey? They will say you're not listening because you don't obey. But God is condemning them for doing. You see God is not teaching a paradox. God is being purely logical!
What person would devote a whole book condemning them for the decline
of society, then get up in the pulpit and condemn them for doing? You ever saw a local preacher deliver a eloquent sermon universally condemning the people for doing? Some people will say they were not sacrificing the sacred animal. But God condemned them for their endless sacrifices. Is God getting emotional here and condemning them for not suffering enough sorrow, showing they are good repenters? Did you ever consider God was justly condemning them for not being?
The truth is God gave them the gospel in pronouncements, and they were
more interested in performing than understanding what they were doing.
