Any teaching in sacred scripture including narratives are Theological and Systematic. Even tho Psalms are written in various circumstances yet the ethical teaching of Doctrines of grace are consistently used in specific application to circumstances. The sacred scripture should never be separated from daily practical experiences in life. The key question is, "Did God merely react to the specific occupation of the king or decree from eternity past doctrines of God would invariably come in the mode of successful conquest? Is the everlasting covenant limited to the activity of the church or unlimited in application of creation?
The first term of the doctrine defines the peculiar condition of man and creation after the tragic fall. Is the context of sin in the active mode of successful conquest? The teaching of sin along with motivated violence permeates violent society. Sin is an penal offense toward God always applied horizontally. Ps 7 3 O LORD my God,if I have done this. and there is guilt on my hands 4 if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe-5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust." compare ..9 O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.
David is teaching about a specific sin, not ordinary sins. In this context "sin" is properly speaking and acting as an determined enemy of the eternal kingdom. Essentially it is a notorious traitor to the covenant. When we are delivered, enter into a bond with God. This unbreakable bond is a swearing upon our own hurt. But we are not perfect. God swears to tell the truth to faithfully uphold His covenants on our behalf. So the guilty party is swearing to their own hurt. The faithful party demanding absolute obedience. This undoubtedly creates desperation in the offending party. The sole answer to the desperate condition of our hopelessness is the specific application of death or the eternal curse.
Adam enjoyed unopposed bond with God in the private garden. The power of man in properly exercising adequate control over creation was unlimited. Conscious thought was naturally followed by sincere desire resulting in action unopposed. But man sinned, was plagued with inability to overcome sin and corruption. But mans desire to control creation brought self-destruction of living in moral contradiction. Man was completely divided. The Psalms teach man was satisfied with the desire for the glory of God but in the fall received the hopelessness of the curse. The curse of God represent in fact a gift. You observe, the law of God demands absolute obedience upon the threat of death. We could carefully compare the curse of death to a terrible plague of inability in gifts graciously given to man only reminded him of unfulfilled noble purpose. God gave man power to overcome sin and moral corruption. We find motivated violence is the result of inability to overcome the curse of corruption. God had to provide a pronouncement to curse illegally blaspheming God. The traitor to the kingdom is incapable to unite the two parts of the ten commandments.
Sin brought the eternal curse of the law. This undoubtedly means the condemnation was directed toward man. As the law is present so the curse speaks against the sinner. Consequently, God decreed from eternity past to bring us a representative who would endure the curse in place of saints. Who deserved being under the power of the curses. Christ annulled the power of the curses, brought wholeness by altering the curses away from us. If the curses was infinitely dynamic, Gods people would do motivated violence. But now we possess the effective weapon to thwart the desire to curse God. We properly direct the curse of the law toward universal evil. There are two specific kinds of curses properly taught in the bible!
