God choosing not to act, remain no choice at all. The effect of choice points to cause of choice. The choice is cause by desire. If there is no effect, the desire does not exist. For God to allow us to be in between two equal desires is the same as God desires we have no desire. Which is to say God does not act at all in salvation.
To communicate ability to maintain desire to be saved apart from Gods desire we be saved is to say God maintains no purpose in our desire to be saved. If we choose for ourselves to be saved, our prior choice determines our following choice. At that point in time nothing causes our first choice. 

Here is where we are today as a direct result of thinking we retain ability apart from Gods purpose."There is no one righteous, no not one, there is no one who seeks God." No one demonstrates ability. No one retains strength. No one maintains possibility. It is impossible for us to be the cause of eternal salvation or to work out our salvation in our own purpose. Those who have not come to this truth are not calling on God night and day. If more people think they are capable more,will not beseech God. When we pray, we gratefully acknowledge our salvation does not belong to us. We acknowledge divine power to deliver a divine gift, instead of being flattered, we always rejoice. 

If we properly understand God is able, our desire for His glory will be dependent on His work on our behalf. There will be no work carry out by our ability. All the work will be performed as a result of extraordinary power. Unless God satisfactorily completes a work, we will nothing but be powerless and defenseless. Because we depend on God to adequately represent our formidable defense. There is no self-evident proposition apart from Gods declared word in every completed work.It is not in selling books. witnessing, church, mega ministry, distribution of books,  prayers,  understanding theology, financial cushion in your later years, strength of government, suffering, hatred, philanthropy, buildings, houses, relationships, or ministries. Its being reduced to Gods salvation.
