Ps 58 1 Do you rulers indeed speak justly?
Do you judge uprightly among men?
2 No, in your heart you devise injustice,
and your hands mete out violence on the earth."
Injustice is promoting the restless activity of the fallen nature. In the Psalms we are taught that the opposition to Gods perfect order in creation is the fallen redefinition of that order. When the wicked redefine Gods law they introduce violence. Since all men are born in sin they are unable to present the truth of Gods perfect order. They devise wicked schemes. The entire system of justice is dependent upon the accurate description of Gods perfect order. The restlessness is any violence done to Gods creation as a result of speaking false words. The restlessness results in injustice.
Every action of God is accomplished by His perfect justice. The entire plan of salvation are the actions of God in the plan of salvation to bring all institutions and creations under the power of renewal. All of Gods actions are legal judgements. God is avenging His purposes and establishing His kingdom by the pronouncements of blessing and cursing.
God must be perfectly just at all times. His law must be satisfied. The law is the instrument that destroys all opposition. The curses or pronounces the death sentence on all law breakers. In order for God to establish a righteous nation , He had to become a man and fulfill the law. Because Christ fulfilled the law, He provided His elect with the ability to destroy all opposition by pronouncing the curses. The law is never abrogated or miss applied. It is always the instrument that holds the wicked under the power of the curse.
We are taught that vengeance belongs to God alone. Not only are we forbidden to take vengeance but we must never lessen the laws authority. Both of these boundaries that if crossed makes man the avenger. God has established His perfect law and it works perfectly in pronouncing the curses. To depend upon other means in order to obtain justice is to go outside of Gods protection. God alone avenges by His perfect word.
All the frustrations of Gods elect are made alive by the opposition of the restless activity of the fallen nature. The words of violence must be opposed by the pronouncements of the law, covenants, curses, statutes, decrees and promises. 11 Then men will say,"Surely the righteous still are rewarded;surely there is a God who judges the earth." The Psalmist is saying that in the use of these means we are building a case in these pronouncements that will account for our innocence in the future judgement in satisfying Gods justice.
