The Psalmist has invested countless hours in pronouncing Gods Law which accurately represent the comprehensive standard of Divine love, the eternal curses which are the human and divine desires expressed as creative partners in overcoming all violent speech, the eternal covenants which represent the valid defense of God to treat His dear saints graciously according to the infinite standard of law keeping of Christ, the comprehensive statutes which represent the holistic vision of Gods eternal kingdom to enjoy rest and freedom from being under constraints, and His promises which energetically promote noble desires for more gifts. God has provided us with a sacred language that promotes extraordinary growth and wholeness.
But when sin entered the world man instantly began to unanimously declare a violent language. The commonplace opposition in moral corruption remains steadfastly the violent attempt to devalue Gods work in the magnificent creation of the generous gifts of his neighbor. Man is ineffectual to overcome the violent desire to level the playing field in redefining Gods Law. No legitimate defense was appropriately placed in man after the fall. The unique defense that man adequately maintains remains Gods word.
We must understand salvation is never experienced outside of God. To attempt to find help in the world is like trying to trust in the ferocious beast. This is why the first Psalm sets meditation of these generous gifts as Gods counsel. Dreadful man naturally seeks other devious ways to find satisfaction and wholeness. We are forced into a corrupted world where we are being defined downward. The Psalmist is teaching that Gods purpose of revealing Himself in His word is to demonstrate the authentic value that cannot be learned in any other relationship.7 My salvation and my honor depend on God. He is my mighty rock, my refuge". Without Gods infinite standard of love, His brilliant defense of His saints, His holistic power to constrain us, His legal declaration of our moral innocence and His willingly giving us genuine ability by graciously giving Himself to us, we would invariably suffer serious abuse. 4 They fully intend to topple him from his lofty place;
You see Gods word orders all things to work together for His ultimate pleasure. But because the world is morally corrupted, God had to divinely reveal Himself in properly containing His kingdom success in His operative word apart from moral corruption. So Gods salvation is set apart from the desolate world. When we are delivered, we are wholly accepted. We are completely sanctified. But salvation remains an ongoing process by which we progressively become like we hitherto are. This is why the Psalmist speaks of eternal salvation as inseparably uniting His desires with Gods in the time sequence.35 3Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."The Psalmist is naturally expressing a desire to sincerely appreciate Gods word as God unites His desire with the Psalmist in a visible blessing that leads to a more brilliant illumination. When the apostle prays the saints might know beyond their understanding, teaching that God standard in a relationship is based upon His eternal love. This is beyond any social relationship we vicariously experience on this earth. Hence,the standard is learned by pronouncing the gifts ,law, covenants, etc. creating the new illumination of more breathtaking beauty of Gods love. It is an extraordinary event beyond the normal goodness that we vicariously experience on this earth.
We must understand eternal salvation remains an eternal kingdom promptly breaking into our ordinary world. The kingdom is established by the eternal words of God. Nothing in this world is significant unless it is sighted through the authoritative pronouncements. Because the pronouncements faithfully recreate the historical events and our prevailing view of objective reality. The apostle calls this setting your hearts on things above, not on the minor things of this harsh world. You see the sacred word of God is eternal. It is not constrained by time. When we meditate on Gods word, we invariably think in a timeless kingdom. Those hours of meditation descend on us as the previous experience breaking into the historical present. Consequently whatever situation we retrieve ourselves, whether we are invariably suffering in the present or vicariously experiencing a fresh illumination of Gods salvation the affectionate remembrance of the past experience in the activity of the faithful recreation of Gods pronouncements visits our present reality.
We must progressively develop a excellent standard that is beyond the unique constraints of this world.We must be familiar with Christ as if He attends the other person in the room.We must learn the pronouncements so that without the guided meditation we are desperate to steadfastly maintain a relationship that we vicariously experience in the present. We must learn to jettison this world in the Psalm meditation and feel comfortable.
