Psalms 62:1 My soul finds rest only in God; my salvation is from him."
Why does the Psalmist assert so forcefully that God obtains the only Person in this world whom we can trust? It hardly says that we can depend on God for salvation, but men in this world. It would not make sense to give man the credit for our remarkable success, for if God produced them, they are a reflection of the essential attributes of God. Because the psalmist does not say that God produced the world and enabled it to prosper through the common good of grace? After all, we must establish value in the decisions of men to get along in this world. But the psalmist accurately describes the ideal world as a king who intentionally destroyed pagan nations by faithfully executing final judgment in the eternal curse against nations who oppressed people by inevitably accepting bribes. If the nations continue to oppress their people through extortion, God would not be just in ruling over His creation. You see, the Psalmist does not trust the troubled army or its political weapons. He uses the utterances of God in a war to fight against abuse. Therefore, when the psalmist makes statements giving God the depreciated value of the nation's worthlessness, he is reaffirming that God upholds a scale of justice and ignores none of the abuses. Therefore, the psalmist sets up a strong defense that God will put in the right balance! Psalms 62:2 He alone is my rock and my salvation; it is my fortress and I will never be shaken. The Psalmist does not write simply to describe his experience. It depicts the king writing the prophecy of judgment on the nation before devastating it. Speak repeatedly of how God decreed destruction by curse in His eternal council. You see that nothing has been omitted from God's counsel. Axioms are eternal statements that cannot be disputed. Statements help us believe that God has already won the victory before the event takes place. If Christ has taken control of all things, then the axioms proclaim historic victory over all necessary things. God does not speak any uncertain advice!
