Psa 11:1 In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: "Flee like a bird to your mountain.
The Psalmist is teaching that a Nation can only survive when the citizens speak in agreement with the word of God. The Serpent in the garden redefined that word and man fell into sin and the curse. With sin comes violence. We redefine God's word which is a violent act.
From the beginning of time through many generations man has not only redefined God's word but he has perfected his rebellion in adding to his schemes. So the Psalmist is teaching when violence breaks out God's elect want to get away from the violence.
Psa 11:2 For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.
We were created to glorify God. Before man fell into sin he spoke the axioms. But when we fell into sin we began to redefine the axioms in order to become our own god. When we create idols we not only hate God but we hate His people. Man's schemes are directed toward the saints.
Psa 11:3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Gods axioms must never be redefined. But man has become professional from one generation to another in creating a violent world that rewards violence. We are born in a world that has been thrown into chaos. But God front loaded the axioms in order to destroy man in his rebellion by cursing lawbreakers. The judgement for rebellion is taken care by God in His eternal counsel.
Psa 11:4 The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them.
Psa 11:5 The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates.
All men stand face to face with God. He has order all things in His eternal counsel. All men stand before God who judges every though and intent of the heart. If the wicked cannot escape God's examination then how are they gonna escape the curse of the law? So God never lowers His standard in the law. The curses will always be added to the rebellion and sin. The Psalmist is teaching that God Himself is the Judge who pronounces the curses upon the wicked. We just pronounce what God has already determined in His eternal counsel.
Psa 11:6 On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot.
Psa 11:7 For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.
A lot of Theologians teach that God's hate is not destructive since He allows the wicked time to repent. But the Psalmist teaches here that God's hate is His pronouncement of the curse on behalf of His saints . We are simply praying this pronouncement that God has already decreed in His eternal counsel. He has given us a creative pronouncement for our defense.
