Psa 41:4 I said, "O LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you."
Every Christian will face people who hear about our sins and speak to others about God's discipline of sin. We all have problems creating bad prophecies about other Christians. We must learn to trust that God has forgiven them and bless other Christians. It is part of our sinfulness to speak negative toward people we know who struggle with sin.
Because the psalmist pronounces the curses the sin he learns our identity in Christ death. If we practiced thinking that we must not give a lot of time thinking about our own sin because they are identified in His death then we will be able to have a positive view of our future that will help us talk positively about the other Christians.
The Psalmist never teaches that we should try to get along with those who speak evil about him. He always curses those who do this. The pronouncements teach us to view everything in black and white. So if a Christian is speaking like the wicked the curses will work to constrain the error rather than judge the person.
We are required to see the best in others and speak well of them. Our hope is that in speaking the curses we will learn to be on the same team in facing real enemies.
