 Doin' Time

Summertime, and the livin’s easy,
but my heart’s locked up, feelin’ kinda queasy.
You got me on this ride, babe, sweet and slow,
I love you so bad, but you treat me low.
Like a penitentiary, I’m doin’ time for you,
spreadin’ my love wide, but it’s only me who’s blue.
Me and my man, we got this thing goin’ on,
I crave your touch, even when you’re gone.
Me, myself, and these late-night cries,
runnin’ to the party just to feel alive.
But when the music fades and the lights go dim,
I’m still here waitin’, pullin’ you back in.
It gets harder, yeah, it gets so hard,
lovin’ you like this, leavin’ my guard.
But summertime calls, and I’m still your girl,
doin’ time in your world, lost in the swirl.
You know I’d break free if I really tried,
but your kiss pulls me under, keeps me tied.
So here I stay, in this soft, sad dream,

lovin’ you forever, or so it seems.
