It functions through the combined power of the Word and the Spirit—an heavenly counsel that wields authority through the spoken word. As long as our speech remains anchored in God's Word, our tongues stay under the dominion of the Name of Christ. In doing so, our words become outward expressions of the condition of our hearts, revealing what the Spirit has been teaching us internally. However, too often, our speech becomes uncontrolled and reckless because we have not yet aligned our thoughts with God's divine perspective—failing to meditate on His thoughts at a level that transforms our entire being. The tongue serves as a personal pulpit—it preaches the gospel not only to those around us but also to ourselves. It is an active, living instrument of self-application, shaping our identity, our beliefs, and our direction in life. Sadly, many people misuse their speech, using it to craft a false image or to engage in empty worship that lacks sincerity. When the mind goes unchecked, it fashions a distorted reflection—a fantasy—based on the words we speak, creating a reality rooted in illusion rather than truth. That’s precisely why we turn exclusively to God for genuine reality; His words are the solid foundation, unlike earthly communication, which is fleeting, deceptive, and often misleading. When we speak the gospel language over ourselves, we declare our allegiance to another King—proclaiming our belonging to a divine kingdom beyond this world. We must intentionally teach ourselves the gospel, desiring to delve deeper into the divine mysteries of God’s truth. Our worldview must be governed by His spoken Word, shaped by the image of the new creation—defined by Christ’s authority and finished work. We actively apply the gospel by speaking it into our lives, continually reminding ourselves that our true reality is not dictated by earthly voices or circumstances but by divine declarations rooted in Heaven’s authority. When we speak of vision and purpose, it is from a realm beyond the natural—an experiential knowledge grounded in supernatural truth. Our words have the power to create a new taste, a new direction, leading us to imagine and pursue far greater things than this world can offer. The tongue plays a pivotal role in shaping that future, infusing our speech with faith that surpasses human understanding, thus revealing that our destiny is anchored in divine promises—promises that are more wondrous than we could ever ask for or comprehend. The course of our lives is ultimately shaped by the words we speak; our speech determines our direction. If we deny the supernatural realm—if we forget our union with Christ—we speak as if we are not connected to Him, as if our new identity does not truly redefine us. When we fail to remember and declare our new name in Christ, we revert to the old self—an identity that is not only shaped by curses or negative words but also by how we perceive and envision our reality. The old nature remains unfamiliar with the new—unfamiliar with the Word made flesh, with the supernatural promises of a new identity and a new name. As a result, we tend to speak as if we are merely the creators of our own gods, independent of divine authority, rather than acknowledging our true origin and purpose in Christ.
