We are fashioned by God to perceive the world in the unity of being—a reflection of His original creation. There is an unseen dialogue woven into everything we behold, where the physical attributes and the deeper reality of an object are as glorious as the eternal light of God's own attributes. When we behold creation, we glimpse the divine radiance, stirring our emotions with a sense of eternity. Changing this perception is profoundly challenging. The mental image we craft is as alluring and multi-faceted as our understanding of the details and the relationships depicted. We often believe that our mental picture is simply a reflection of what we see, but in truth, there exists another dimension—one that determines the depth of character and meaning within the image. Feelings are as vital to our experience as our reasoning; indeed, they are the soul’s response to the divine harmony underlying all things. Our difficulty with feelings lies in their tendency to mirror our mental view of the world and ourselves. We are tempted to perceive reality in one dimension, reducing the rich tapestry of existence to a mere snapshot—focused solely on the events and persons involved. Yet, it is our perspective that colors this picture, shaping the emotional hues we communicate through it. Our problem is that we remember events without carrying the eternal, timeless dimension that imbues them with true meaning. The mental images we hold are part of why we often see history as disconnected fragments. We were meant to be stirred by God's emanation within creation itself—the divine light that reveals the glory hidden in past moments. Our genuine experience should be timeless, flooding us with emotion and power, enabling us to overcome all obstacles through the divine presence that sustains and animates us.
