 Righteousness from Heaven

From eternity’s dawn, a cross stood for man,

Where hung God’s own Glory, the Rose of Sharon.

Righteousness gazed from heaven, Faithfulness entombed,

Yet He burst from the grave, and free access bloomed.

His throne is so holy, my sins render me mute,

With coals on my tongue, I tremble in truth.

But the proud scorn His ways, their contempt running deep,

So I fall to my knees, where His mercy I seek.

No fear of God lingers before their blind eyes,

They flatter themselves, too proud to despise

The lies they embrace, their wicked conspiring—

O Lord, guard my steps from their schemes so beguiling.

We’ve made idols of kin, our hearts gone astray,

Deistic and hardened, we’ve wandered away.

Our nation’s rebellion, like Adam’s great fall,

Permits wayward sons and death’s shadow on all.

In the pit’s fiery torment, the lost bear their shame,

Eternal their suffering, unquenched by the flame.

Yet Your love, O Lord, stretches vast to the skies,

A spring in my heart where Your Spirit resides.

Your righteousness towers like mountains on high,

A heavenly gift for my soul’s desperate cry.

Your justice runs deep as the ocean’s great tide,

In its waves, my stained heart finds refuge to hide.

O Great Shepherd of souls, complete Your good work,

Revive Your dear Church where shadows now lurk.

Our nation lies broken, steeped in sin’s bitter gall—

Come, Holy Spirit, awaken us all.
