Consequently, we proclaim both blessing and cursing, aspiring to elevate all things into a state of unity, while simultaneously attempting to suppress our sorrows when faced with the temptation to condemn those deemed wicked. The law, however, will not remain silent; it will resonate throughout eternity. God will extend blessings to the righteous while condemning the wicked to eternal punishment in hell. The universe, in its perfected state, will reflect the fulfillment found in the unity of Christ, while the wicked will inevitably confront eternal judgment. I have developed a deep and substantial understanding of this unique way of thinking, particularly as it pertains to the ancient biblical discussions surrounding warfare—a topic that, regrettably, has not garnered the positive attention it deserves. For many years, I have immersed myself in the study of these psalms, and I have observed that their traditional phrasing often conveys a sense of severity that can be intimidating, leaving all but the most courageous individuals hesitant to engage with them. These psalms compellingly illustrate the common human experience in relation to the divine, portraying others as formidable foes. The psalmist conveys the notion that God's holiness represents an eternal decree, which serves as the bedrock upon which all existence is founded, determining the trajectory of life either through divine blessings or curses. Every experience we undergo is thus shaped by this impartial judgment. In this context, we find the powerful declaration, "Your decrees are unassailable, and Your holiness eternally adorns Your dwelling, O Lord." Our lives can be metaphorically likened to a succession of distinct experiences, reminiscent of the undulating waves of a vast ocean. When we vocalize this profound truth, we reaffirm our sense of relative security, even as the mighty waves crash around us with tremendous force. The psalmist draws an insightful analogy between these powerful waves and our individual experiences of proclaiming this truth aloud. We were inherently designed to passionately seek blessings; however, when we are met with intense opposition, we often find ourselves succumbing to the deep sorrow that characterizes this harsh and challenging world.
