It can be challenging to understand how His intentional and benevolent actions, which both limit and permit our future, create a state of perfect balance. We are often misled by secondary causes and influences. God's work is fundamentally rooted in the extraordinary effectiveness of His Word and Spirit, which operate within this unseen process of historical renewal and transformation. In the narrative of Israel, it was never the governing authorities that secured their victories; rather, they were frequently outmatched and left vulnerable. It was typically through divine grace that they made significant strides into the promised land, overcoming obstacles that seemed insurmountable. The story of Israel serves as a testament to how God's governance transcends earthly powers and how His plans unfold through His sovereign will, demonstrating that true authority and triumph come from Him alone. How was God's governance as a father established on this earth? It came into being through His divine justice and impartiality, which is evident in both the blessings He bestows and the swift retribution He enacts. The Lord has the power to bring some rulers to their knees while firmly establishing others in their positions. He holds a symbolic cup in His hand, one that He drinks from, and ultimately, all wicked rulers will find themselves draining it to the very dregs. The omnipotent force of God is present in every essential aspect of the eternal universe and cannot be resisted or diminished. His sacred word always fulfills its purpose and never returns empty. His perfect law, which graciously grants us freedom, operates within us as we reflect on the brilliance of His glory. His unparalleled power guarantees our salvation, from its inception to its completion.
