In His infinite wisdom, our Heavenly Father sent His Son to fulfill the necessary work for our adoption into His family. This act of love granted us the Holy Spirit, the very essence that empowers us to exercise His authority over every aspect of our lives. The work of the Spirit is a manifestation of Christ's own work, who rightfully owns all of creation. The Word of God dwells within us, and it is essential to recognize that without the Spirit, the covenantal promises lose their binding authority. Conversely, without the Word, we lack a strong foundation to defend the operations of the Spirit in our lives. In His teachings, Christ made it clear that all things came into existence through Him. Unlike human educators, who lack the power to manifest reality through mere words, Christ, in His incarnation, demonstrated the ability to reshape the world through His declarations. If the law were diminished in any way, it would cease to represent an unattainable standard. On the other hand, if that standard were merely pragmatic, it would undermine God's sovereignty over life and death, reducing our identity in Christ's death to a mere suggestion rather than a profound reality. In summary, our understanding of God, His law, and His promises must be grounded in the truth of Scripture, illuminated by the work of the Holy Spirit, and centered in the person of Christ. Only through this lens can we hope to grasp the depth of His love and the security of our salvation. The constancy of God ensures that we can always depend on His word. If He were to change, our trust in His promises would be fundamentally shaken. Therefore, we are empowered to proclaim the kingdom of God, as His declarations form the foundational bedrock of our strength. We must earnestly seek the assurance that can only be found in His word, for our sinful nature renders our understanding unreliable, and our worldview is inherently flawed. It is vital that we seek refuge in God's proclamations. Psalm 40:10 captures this sentiment beautifully, imploring, "Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me." This verse reinforces the understanding that divine love is unconditional and does not depend upon our moral standing or inherent worth. God's nature is unchanging; His actions are governed by His own laws, covenants, decrees, and promises. When we rely solely on our limited understanding, we risk forming misguided assumptions about the nature of God. His very words possess the power to renew all things, and we find our security in His unwavering declarations of love and faithfulness. The greater the authority of the law, the more we can affirm Christ's authority. If Christ, who has dominion over all things, failed to fulfill the law, our identification with Him would be incomplete. Additionally, if He did not possess rightful ownership, He could not reverse the consequences of the Fall, leaving us without the assurance of the legal justification of His inheritance. Without a covenant, there is no solid foundation upon which to place our faith in words as sworn testimony. If the law is not realized in our union with Christ, then the governing authorities of the world hold no legitimate power. It is imperative not to reduce Christ to merely being an example for us to follow; doing so risks creating a disconnection between the Spirit and the Word. Christ is far more than a teacher or prophet; He is the embodiment of divine authority. He spoke words of healing and blessing to His chosen people during His time on earth. Our security does not stem from our own abilities or worthiness but is instead anchored in the confidence we have in His declarations.
