Ultimately, the journeys we embark upon may lead us through a myriad of trials and tribulations, but as we align our unique talents with God’s divine guidance, we can do so with a profound sense of fulfillment and peace. I can recall numerous occasions where the destructive forces surrounding me seemed to have no power, allowing only joy and positivity to blossom in my life. The psalmist’s experience of hardship is met with a powerful affirmation of God’s sovereignty, showcasing the potential for us to rise above opposition and embrace the joy found in our unique gifts, even in the face of persistent risks. Reflecting on my formative years, I realized that incorporating meditation into my life allowed me to align my natural talents with my chosen path. The poignant words of Psalm 57:4-5 capture this internal struggle beautifully: "I am in the midst of lions; I lie among ravenous beasts—men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." This scripture encapsulates the tension we often experience as we navigate our divine purpose, finding joy in our gifts while also confronting significant opposition along the way. When an all-holy God looks upon the presence of evil, it does not suggest that He is indifferent to it or that He chooses to ignore it willfully. Instead, this gaze reveals the depth of God's attitude towards the reality of evil in the world. If God were to completely turn away from evil, it would mean that Christ could not have come down to this earth and fully engaged with the evil that exists, thereby fulfilling His promise of solidarity with His chosen people. This notion also raises the question of whether there would be certain areas or situations that are considered off-limits for God’s followers as they pursue their mission in the world. Just as Christ took on the role of a missionary, we too are called to accept that same responsibility, using the unique gifts we have been given. In my own personal journey, I have discovered that God often leads us in directions that align with our individual talents and abilities. He encourages us to strive for success while simultaneously urging us to embrace a spirit of selflessness. This dual process not only accelerates our personal growth but also deepens our understanding of the inherent value of our gifts. As we become more aware of this value, our preoccupation with our own needs and desires tends to diminish. However, throughout my various experiences, I have encountered attempts by the adversary to tempt me towards alternative paths that stray from this divine calling. The Devil, it seems, thrives in environments where societal morals are crumbling and where darkness prevails. Among the various endeavors in my life, one consistent source of fulfillment has been my wife’s homeschooling group, which has continued to flourish despite any struggles I might have faced. In stark contrast, other areas of my life—such as my involvement in church activities, my professional life, and even my participation in sports—have been negatively impacted by the adversary's influence. The presence of malevolence is often palpable; we can feel the weight of adversarial forces encroaching upon us. Yet, in the act of elevating God above these challenges, we find a way to transcend them and rise above the fray. It is imperative to understand that there is no place on earth that is beyond God's control; every inch belongs to Him and is under His dominion.
