The struggles faced by the natural man represent a long and arduous battle against the oppressive chains of penal law, which weigh heavily on a suspicious mind and an evil heart. Yet, when we are saved, we find that all our opposition stems from the world around us, and it becomes a journey of navigating that external conflict in light of the transformative power of our salvation. The magnitude of this salvation is so extraordinary that it is difficult to fully comprehend its value without recognizing the unattainable nature of this gift. It required a sovereign and eternal God to accomplish a work so complete that no other being could ever replicate it. We have been transformed from the depths of despair, akin to being discarded on the refuse-laden streets, to being placed delicately upon a pristine shelf in a fine china store, cherished and valued. God has made this gift of salvation exquisitely sensitive to all things, which is why He has instituted the severe measures of eternal curses to guard and protect this precious salvation. This is precisely why God has provided us with curses, decrees, statutes, and covenant promises laid out in His law. These divine decrees are intricately woven together, serving to safeguard us within the framework of His Word while simultaneously ushering in immense blessings. It is essential that we articulate this reality with the utmost clarity and intensity, for even those who identify as Christians can misinterpret or distort the core message of salvation. When we first embrace our new life as Christians, we experience the exhilarating freedom and renewal that comes with being made new. However, we also face the painful reality of the hard-heartedness present in the world around us. We endure the numbing effects of a society that often feels indifferent to our spiritual awakening, much like a frog unaware of the gradual rise in temperature in its surroundings. After a few fleeting months of newfound joy, the initial excitement can begin to wane. Nonetheless, God does not desire for our experience of salvation to diminish. This is why He is infinitely vigilant, keenly sensitive to any actions or attitudes that might undermine the sanctity of His gift of salvation. Consequently, we must be diligent in examining the organized opposition that seeks to undermine our faith, much like we carefully choose what we allow into our minds while watching television. In light of this, God has instigated a fierce struggle within us, urging us to cast off the burdensome weight of the law. He has pronounced these Eternal Curses to eradicate that weight, and even after His death, He continued to confront it with further curses.
