In this context, God provided Israel with the law, covenants, statutes, blessings, and curses. He established a unique relationship with them through a Mediator who guided them through their journey. This Mediator was manifested as a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day, symbolizing God's presence and protection. The fire consumed their enemies, while the cloud illuminated their path towards the Promised Land, illustrating the way in which God carried His people through every trial and tribulation. In essence, we are utterly dependent on God for everything. There is no moment in our lives where we can claim control over our health, success, or future. It is only through His grace that we are sustained and carried forward. Thus, we find solace in the reality that God, our Shepherd, lovingly and faithfully bears us through every circumstance, ensuring that we are never alone in our journey. However, God's role transcends that of a mere caretaker; He is depicted as a loving Father, a mighty Warrior, and a righteous Judge. Before the world even began, God sovereignly ordained everything that would come to pass. He governs all creation, establishing His law and order in the universe and in the lives of mankind. The laws of God are not arbitrary; they are creation ordinances that reflect His divine will. It is essential to understand that no nation or authority possesses power that is not ultimately derived from God. His glory is unique, and He does not share it with anyone. Recognizing the dire situation of humanity, God initiated a divine plan to re-establish His law and prevent mankind from spiraling into further chaos and destruction. He could not allow humanity to co-opt His work or compromise His purpose. This is vividly illustrated in the story of God's deliverance of His people from slavery in Egypt. In this act, He functioned as a Shepherd-King, guiding and protecting His chosen nation. For Israel to flourish as a nation, they had to receive everything they needed directly from God, and this was granted to them through His grace. In His infinite wisdom, God chose to create a people for Himself. In the very act of creating humanity, He appointed the first man to be the steward of His creation, granting him dominion over the earth. Each individual was endowed with free will, enabling them to pursue their purpose with genuine freedom. The level of success one achieved was directly proportional to their desire and effort. However, the fall into sin radically altered this dynamic. With sin came a loss of true freedom, as humanity became enslaved to sin and their own desires. The consequences of this fall brought about a curse upon creation and mankind, leading to an inability for individuals to attain their desires in a perfect manner.
