In order to attain security and happiness, it is essential to rely on the information and knowledge acquired from our surroundings. It is crucial to be mindful of the messages and influences we allow into our lives, as they have the potential to impact our well-being and sense of security. By heeding God's guidance and listening to positive influences, we can avoid many difficulties and experience a greater sense of security. Much of our fears and uncertainties arise from not being receptive to the messages and guidance that the Lord is trying to communicate to us. The Psalmist emphasizes the importance of seeking out and adhering to the wisdom and words of God, as they offer solace and guidance in navigating life's challenges.
In Psalm 5, the author articulates his plea for "God to attentively receive his petitions in the early hours of the day, to heed his supplications during times of distress, to discern the veracity of his words, to respond to his prayers, to intercede on his behalf and shield him from harm, to be attuned to his every utterance, to hear his pleas for mercy and assistance, to be cognizant of the perils he faces, to allow his praises of the Lord to be heard by others, to comprehend his unspoken anguish in moments of speechlessness, to acknowledge his tears and cries for assistance, to compel individuals to heed his message, to only perceive joy and gladness in his existence, to calm his troubled thoughts, and to thwart the malevolent intentions of those seeking to inflict harm upon him."
When the Psalmist implores God to hear their prayers, they are not just asking for a passive audience. Instead, they are invoking a God who not only listens but also responds and intervenes. While humans can only communicate and listen, God has the ability to actively interact with our requests and necessities.
