The Christian self is experienced as we experience death to that which thwarts our purpose. As we understand the line between mystery and reality, the self is fully committed to its purpose. How can you understand yourself doing something for the wrong reasons?Obviously there is a greater weight that prevents everything in your self from achieving that goal. When we live in mystery, the self is forgotten. When it comes to living in reality, the self enjoys complete freedom of purpose. When we acknowledge our limits, we understand our own legal limits. To be fair, we must abandon all imagination that our true selves are understood in mystery.
If our true self is Christ Himself, then we become true when we image that self. If we are identified with Christ, we become mysteriously one with God in all His being. Do we understand ourselves as Christ understands himself? Obviously not. But Christ did not prevent us from succeeding in accordance with all of Himself. Anything that prevents us from succeeding in Christ is destructive. When I say that we know who we are because of who Christ is, it is because Christ destroyed destruction. God's purpose is to justify everything we do by reason of everything He has already done.
If we want to understand who we really are, it should be in the way it communicates to us. All created reality is pure and correct precisely because it is ordered by the perfect communication of God. In this sense, we are, at every moment, exactly how God has ordained how things should work together. However, not everything God has to say has been revealed. But God revealed an easy way to understand everything by giving us the spoken word. All His revealed words are Trinitarian.
We have a more detailed mystical communication with what God has revealed. But it is because we are told of the self in a way that we receive it as a whole that we fully understand the self. It is spoken of in laws, statutes, commands, and promises. All of these different audio forms are given to us through declarations. These declarations overturn the confusion. The true self is always experienced when one reaches the true line between blessing and curse. Because we understand the reality of what is a mystery and what is revealed.
