It is important to acknowledge that while we may understand the message of the gospel, it is not our role to assume we know how to address the unique needs of every individual. If a church culture categorizes people, it suggests that the message being preached may be contradictory to the true gospel. The essence of the gospel is inherently mysterious. While we strive for unity in teaching and church structure, our approach to sin mirrors this concept - we do not need to fixate on our sin in order to overcome it. Instead, we focus on the redemptive work of Christ on our behalf.
The concept of unity within the church is difficult to define as it transcends time, culture, nationality, and even our preconceived notions of individuals based on their reputation. It goes beyond our biased perspectives and requires us to accept ourselves based on what God has revealed about us. In my personal opinion, many people merely acknowledge their salvation without fully grasping its significance beyond their own limited self-perception. They fail to truly understand their identity in Christ because they have not experienced a transformative renewal. They only approach it from an intellectual standpoint. God has communicated His message in a way that we can deeply internalize and nourish our souls with, similar to the act of eating food. Just as we savor the taste, derive pleasure from it, and feel satisfied after consuming a meal, the gospel is not merely a message addressing our sins, but a divine tool that recreates us and unites us with God's creation. It allows us to fully experience the essence of our environment and empowers us to utilize God's gifts in our work, fostering a sense of unity and appreciation as if we were nourishing ourselves through a meal.
This is how we should allow the word of God to impact us. We should be deeply moved by even a single word from Him, as each word holds the power to breathe life into us. It is crucial to have a profound understanding of His word so that all His teachings can come together as one cohesive message. The mere mention of God's name should bring us to a point where we can discern between blessings and curses. Allow me to elaborate on this concept, as we find pleasure in addressing and overcoming our own shortcomings. We must strive to rid our souls of the negative influences that weigh us down, such as the sorrows of the world and our internal fears, much like a person who has consumed an intoxicating drink. The Bible likens the way a king perceives and controls the events within his kingdom to the act of consuming an alcoholic concoction. Initially, there is pleasure, but eventually, numbness sets in as one becomes intoxicated. In a similar manner, we often find ourselves overwhelmed by the sorrows we encounter. We become ensnared by the curse they bring upon us.
