It is crucial to comprehend that the God of Israel was a deity committed to upholding covenants. The covenant established with Abraham, known as the covenant of grace, solidified his and his descendants' place within the covenant solely through faith. The introduction of the law occurred much later, approximately 450 years afterwards. This unwavering adherence to the covenant of grace is the reason behind God's consistent faithfulness towards His chosen people. Within this covenant, God safeguards His people from all forms of harm, allowing them to confidently declare that they will never be abandoned or shaken. They remain under the complete protection and authority of God, who will guide them through any adversity. The initial establishment of the covenant of grace holds significance because the chosen individuals themselves lack the ability to perform any virtuous actions. In fact, sinners are deemed foolish. Abraham recognized his own wickedness in the eyes of God, thus he sought justification through faith rather than relying on adherence to the law. This was exemplified through his obedient act of sacrificing his son, showcasing his devotion to the gospel.
This is the reason why God grants us an irresistible grace. From the very beginning, His words brought life into existence. And now, through His words of salvation, a new life is born. He calls upon a vast multitude of his people, leading them to the temple to worship Him. These individuals are like prisoners in desperate need of His gifts, as they have suffered under oppression for far too long. His grace is powerful enough to save even the most oppressed person in the world. Once salvation is obtained, God continues to bestow His saving power upon His weak ones. This is an unchangeable calling from God. It is my fervent belief, as I bless and pray for God's church, that Israel will never be forsaken. This is a promise made in the covenant with Abraham. I am fully aware that if I were to forget Jerusalem, I would be neglecting the hope for salvation in Israel. I firmly believe that God will restore His people's fortunes, as promised through David, and that Christ will reign in the new heaven and earth. If God were to turn away from His people, He would not be the faithful God of the covenant. Though we are the descendants of Abraham, He will never forget Abraham. I hold a deep affection for the planted seed of history, even more so than for my own country. The world is undergoing constant change, and it is futile to resist this course. Instead, we should place our hope in God, for He orchestrates events to demonstrate His faithfulness to His covenant. God is the one true deity.
