The exclusion of boasting is rooted in the understanding that salvation is solely attained through grace. If we were to have any involvement in our salvation, it would imply that we possess something worthy of offering. Consequently, this would lead to a sense of pride and self-congratulation. Thus, boasting not only asserts our entitlement to salvation but also portrays salvation as a means to enforce our obligation to obedience.

We demonstrate our sense of responsibility for personal growth by acknowledging our capacity for change. By implying that our actions contribute to our salvation, we insinuate that we possess qualities worthy of acceptance by a higher power. This may not be overt boasting, but rather a subtly prideful assertion of our role in earning divine approval.

The scripture effectively differentiates between individuals who possess pride and those who are chosen but grapple with their pride. A proud individual is characterized by their belief in their own capability to attain salvation or retain it. The Bible asserts that all humans are inherently religious, as they have been designed by God with an innate longing for perfection. Each person possesses a soul, as evidenced by their capacity for self-reflection, intellect, comprehension, and perception. Consequently, every individual is either mirroring the likeness of Christ or projecting a distorted and counterfeit image. Thus, humans are inclined to either worship the one true God or indulge in the worship of idols and false deities.

The Bible condemns those who worship false idols as arrogant, wicked, or hostile towards God. These individuals are doomed to God's judgement and ultimate destruction. Their arrogance leads them to question the existence of God and create their own false gods. By worshiping these idols, they elevate themselves to the level of gods. Their refusal to acknowledge God leads them to speak and act in ways that undermine and harm society. Those who do not submit to God ultimately bring destruction upon themselves and others, as they seek to elevate themselves at the expense of others and what rightfully belongs to God.
