The concept of having mastery over all aspects of existence is a complex one. I have found myself contemplating this idea after being inspired by David's profound prayers, which I have fervently recited for hours on end. As the challenges in my life intensified, my prayers took on a more intense and passionate tone, driven by a deep-seated fear of losing control over my own reality.
However, throughout my life, I have always been intrigued by a desire for control that extends beyond my immediate surroundings. On certain occasions, after engaging in prayer, I have encountered a profound stillness that defies adequate description. It reminds me of the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, where the entire electrical infrastructure was devastated, leaving behind an eerie silence that remains etched in my memory. I liken this eerie stillness to the metaphysical silence I have experienced on numerous occasions. It often leads me to ponder whether there is a malevolent presence in the atmosphere or if there are perpetually lurking evil spirits that I successfully repelled during those moments. However, I must emphasize that I do not identify as charismatic, so the only logical explanation I can find lies within the confines of the Psalms. Attempting to rationalize these experiences outside of that context would result in irrationality.
Christ possesses complete and absolute dominion over all aspects of existence. This encompasses His ability to sustain and oversee the celestial beings, spiritual entities, malevolent forces, and even earthly governments. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that the Bible presents the concept of our inseparable connection with Christ. Consequently, we are entitled to inherit all things through our association with Him. Regrettably, this profound truth often eludes individuals due to its divergence from the practicalities of everyday life. Upon thorough contemplation, I have arrived at a personal understanding derived from engaging in fervent prayers using the Psalms. In this spiritual practice, I have encountered a divine communication wherein Christ unveils His desires to His Father with unparalleled perfection. This extraordinary vision portrays a flawless embodiment of humanity, guided by an eternal moral standard. The emotions expressed during these prayers surpass our limited capacity for joy and comprehension of anger. Moreover, the protective shield of righteousness enveloping this idealized human figure far exceeds any conceivable desire for safeguarding against malevolence and the perils of the world. Thus, I find myself propelled beyond the confines of my own selfhood, immersing myself in the heart and mind of this impeccably divine and human entity.
When I pray the Psalms, I envision myself as having ultimate authority over the world. This leads me to feel a sense of unity between heaven and earth, which I often describe as the merging of all existence. I struggle to connect with the typical emotions and experiences of others, often feeling detached from their perspectives.
