The opposing viewpoint suggests that while God is sovereign, He respects our free will. However, if God is truly sovereign, He can do as He pleases unless a higher will prevents Him. We acknowledge that God has the freedom to act as He sees fit. To believe that we have the freedom to act independently of God would be to create a deity of our own making, not necessarily a physical one but one constructed in our minds. Recognizing that God's will always prevails allows us to acknowledge Him as the ultimate authority.
It is crucial for us to conceptualize God as separate and distinct from us due to our moral nature. By defining God as "other," we acknowledge that He is not bound by any laws, as He Himself is the ultimate standard. The law is not the ultimate authority; rather, God is. We are unable to fully understand the absolute requirements of the law, which is why it serves to reveal our shortcomings. As the Psalmist questions, who can truly comprehend their own mistakes? Therefore, God acts according to His own will and judgment, correcting as He sees fit.
God demonstrates justice, faithfulness, kindness, and love by consistently adhering to the principles of the law across all periods of time. This harmony, representing true unity, is a manifestation of the Triune nature of God. This divine communication occurs through the influence of sacred words. The word of God is an interconnected whole, rather than separate fragments. Each word embodies the essence of all the others. Therefore, the underlying symmetry achieved by fulfilling the requirements of the law throughout history can be seen as the essence of a single word in sacred scripture. The Psalmist recognizes this as the word of salvation.
When the Psalmist reflects deeply, he fervently asks for his thoughts to align with the future harmony and divine unity of God's flawless deeds. God generates ex nihilo and consistently brings about the novel. We feel our souls coming into harmony as we unravel the intricacies of God's recreation. Through the holy word and Spirit, we indirectly undergo spiritual revitalization.
