Innocence should not be mistaken for an absence of righteousness. It is rather a perspective of being in Christ, even when we experience the inevitable consequences of living in this imperfect world. Our righteousness does not stem from our own actions, but is attributed to us through our connection to Christ. However, it is important to clarify the type of righteousness being referred to here – it is a legal righteousness. I differentiate between the authority of God and that of humans. I do not believe that earthly governments have the power to restrict our interpretation of the Old Testament. The contrast between God's ultimate sovereignty and human responsibility is not a fifty-fifty relationship; rather, humans must humbly submit themselves so that God's work can continue. This is the reason why death reigns supreme in the realm of humanity. The divine verdict of God is not contingent upon human actions, but rather intended to delineate the disparity between God's sovereign authority and the frailty of mankind, particularly in the context of human mortality. God diminishes human influence to insignificance, while His eternal existence endures throughout all epochs. The magnitude of God's power can be understood by examining the authority wielded by earthly monarchs. In a monarchy, the king possesses complete power to render judgments. However, it would be erroneous to equate God's power with that of a mere mortal. God's legal authority stems from the divine combination of his word and spirit. Unlike humans, God governs through supernatural forces that are beyond human capabilities. The potency of God's spoken words lies in their ability to bring about creation. Even within a monarchy, the principle of rule of law prevails. The enduring significance of the Ten Commandments lies in their ability to expose humanity’s flawed nature. Embedded within the framework of law is a manifestation of God's righteousness through the power of language. God's legal declaration aims to eradicate destruction and restore life. The prevailing system of human governance, though not inherently political, is tainted by the destructive and morally corrupt tendencies of mankind. Thus, legal innocence does not always equate to genuine innocence.David's involvement in the heinous acts of adultery and murder cannot be overlooked; however, it is worth noting that despite this, God still intervened to annihilate all those who stood against him. There seems to be no alternative approach to intimately connect with David in terms of culpability, while simultaneously witnessing God's judgment upon his adversaries. I firmly believe that these orchestrated occurrences in David's life were orchestrated by God to expose the depths of his intense suffering, akin to the sacrificial nature of Christ. In essence, this serves as a testament to the overwhelming triumph of Christ's righteousness.David endured public humiliation in order for God to demonstrate His righteousness by annihilating all of David's adversaries, including those who were once his close associates, thereby affirming David's innocence. This individual embodies a Christ-like figure who, much like a culpable monarch, endured theThe distinction in the rejection of malevolence becomes evident when examining the actions of David. It is noteworthy that there are no historical accounts of David seeking retribution against his own commanders, implying a deliberate avoidance of personal vengeance. Furthermore, it can be argued that David did not directly perpetrate the murder of Uriah, as he was not physically present during the act of destruction. This behavior, characterized by cursed actions, explains why David was not in close proximity to the demise of his own son. Ironically, it was his own close kin who betrayed him. David's innocence can be attributed to the blessings he received through righteousness, as God intervened and judged those who opposed him.
