If God is truly in control and has faithfully promised to act in our best interest, how can we find profound contentment when there seems to be no discernible practical advantage in indirectly experiencing His ongoing deliverance in our daily lives? In order to uphold his divine commitment to maintaining authority, we willingly endure the hardships of existence, recognizing them as a manifestation of his enigmatic workings or as a means through which he eliminates any threats to our well-being. When confronted with sorrow, it is necessary for us to acknowledge that God is orchestrating something beyond our comprehension. In Psalm 17, we confront our adversaries united in our resistance. It is difficult for us to conceive there will be moments in our lives when we directly face the assault of our enemies. The Christian journey revolves not solely around devotion but also studying scripture to effectively engage in conflict with our adversaries.
