According to Christian theology, the event known as the fall resulted in a decline in humanity's moral ability. Prior to the fall, humans possessed free will and the capacity to adhere to all moral principles. However, after the fall, humans experienced a decline in their mental faculties and became disconnected from God. As a result, humans are unable to perform virtuous deeds and are considered spiritually dead due to their enslavement to sin.The decisions made by men are considered wicked because they do not align with the objective of honoring God. These decisions encompass both ethical and pragmatic choices driven by self-centered motives instead of a sincere affection for God. The underlying cause of these choices stems from an individual's desires. Nonetheless, due to their spiritual state of being deceased, men are unable to choose to love God unless they are brought back to life.In order for individuals to make moral choices, a process of spiritual transformation must occur, initiated by the Spirit and involving the application of the word to the human heart, resulting in a spiritual awakening. This process provides saints with new perspectives and understanding through the teachings of Christ. As a result, saints are more inclined to choose virtuous actions and prioritize Christ in their cognitive processes. Occasionally, an individual may come across the teachings of God and seemingly experience a transformation, but this may be attributed to legalistic beliefs rather than an actual, authentic change. The authenticity of their actions will eventually become apparent, indicating whether they are motivated by a genuine commitment to Christ or a self-centered attachment to sin. Authentic regeneration can solely be attained through the assistance of the Holy Spirit.
