The collision course on which our country is presently situated became evident to me recently when I was faced with legalism, a phenomenon that had not come to my attention for some time. This encounter evoked memories of previous interactions I had in my former community prior to embracing a covenant-centered way of life. Following the altercation, I experienced a profound sense of spiritual emptiness that had been elusive for quite some time. By engaging in experiential learning, I have acquired the capacity to identify these indications within myself. My analysis suggests that this predicament has become so deeply embedded in the American consciousness that those afflicted by it remain oblivious to their confinement within a spiritual domain. The prevalence of sin leads to an increase in the severity of the law. I personally experienced feelings of being overwhelmed and oppressed this week, and sought guidance on how to attain spiritual liberation. The distance I felt in my relationship with God is a distressing experience that others may also encounter. His statement that religion has regained its dominance, similar to Martin Luther's era, is accurate. A new set of principles, similar to Luther's 95 theses, is necessary and should be posted on church doors. Rather than more regulations, our primary need is to experience love from God and emotional intimacy in our relationships. If it is necessary to relinquish what we hold dear for our deliverance, are we willing to do so?
