The act of decision-making necessitates a certain level of desire. Despite this, there are individuals who disregard their desires because they have been socialized to believe that emotions are an unreliable basis for decision-making.Notwithstanding, it is crucial to recognize our yearnings and acquire the skills to manage them in a manner that does not deplete our energy or diminish our drive. The author of the Psalms comprehended the significance of desire, as he prioritized his longing for God above all other aspirations when attending temple for worship. Our focus is on God's disclosure of Himself, and we deliberately choose actions that mirror His purposes. Despite our close association with God, our inclination towards unrest requires us to give precedence to attaining inner tranquillity in Him. Our longings resemble the exploration of peripheral chambers in a dwelling prior to reaching the central, concealed chamber, which symbolizes our ultimate aspiration. This is the spiritual location where we encounter redemption through belief, and it should function as a lasting refuge for us. Our desires are an expression of our prior experiences with this elevated understanding of redemption. The theme of the conflict between belief and suffering is evident in this context. Despite our aspirations and efforts to attain salvation, our past encounters have demonstrated our incapability to consistently maintain this yearning. It is challenging for us to persistently remain in a state of longing for the supernatural and having faith in God's liberation. When we crave for Christ, we are searching for a new encounter that we anticipate will gratify us. Although our desire for Christ may not be instantly fulfilled, it motivates us to revisit that experience. By placing our trust in Christ, it is as though we have transitioned from death to our eternal abode. In the end, this journey of yearning and attainment brings us closer to Christ and our ultimate destination.
