My belief is that prayer serves a personal purpose, and that it need not necessarily be associated with religion. I see it as a means of grappling with the challenges that we encounter in life, whether they arise from external sources such as criticism or from internal factors such as mental or physical conditions. In contemporary times, there are numerous ways to describe such challenges, and they can leave us feeling constricted and limited in our ability to express ourselves fully in relation to our spiritual, mental, and emotional dimensions. Prayer, in this sense, can help us to break free from these limitations and to align ourselves with a more harmonious and integrated state of being. The act of prayer is not solely for the purpose of communicating with God, but rather it is a gift bestowed on us by God. It plays a crucial role in our ability to connect with God on a personal level, as we rely on Him as a loving and supportive Father. Through prayer, we experience a unique relationship with God that cannot be replicated elsewhere, as it provides us with a sense of freedom and unconditional love. It is important to recognize that many of our negative experiences stem from negative emotions such as lust, jealousy, envy, strife, or covetousness, and that prayer serves as a means of healing and overcoming such issues. The aforementioned characteristics are developed in individuals through external influences or flawed thought processes, resulting in a state of entanglement. These malevolent forces restrict and confine individuals, and may not solely stem from misguided thinking, but can also arise from toxic relationships. The potential for external domination can be a significant source of subjugation. As such, our struggles are not solely against tangible adversaries, but also encompass the malevolent powers and influences that mold our existence. To combat these forces, God has bestowed upon us the impassioned pleas of Jesus, who, while in the garden, fervently prayed and even perspired blood in anticipation of the evil event that would soon befall Him, a fate of which He possessed an intimate comprehension. To clarify, Chris's prayerful actions were not solely in response to the crucifixion, but rather were a result of his confrontation with the Devil who sought to bring about his demise. In enduring great distress and hardship, Christ's struggle with the Devil highlights the significance of prayer as a means of freeing oneself from the complications of worldly existence. This is the reason why prayers are likened to warfare. Despite having already triumphed over the Devil through the actions of Christ, we are provided with the methods to attain this victory by approaching the struggle akin to that of an athlete. In essence, we acquire the ability to discipline and overcome physical limitations through the practice of fervent prayer, as if our very existence depended on attaining spiritual renewal facilitated by the Holy Spirit. The successful execution of such prayer entails a life-or-death struggle with profound consequences.
