It is crucial that we comprehend our yearnings that are from the depths of our soul because they demonstrate our identity. If we make choices and lead our lives based on what we are willing to do, we will only end up trusting in things that are not permanent. On the other hand, if we take the time to understand our desires of our relationship with God, we will be able to connect with others in a much more profound and satisfying way. Without this understanding, we will always feel like we are just two ships passing in the night. The reason we need to find God is because without Him, we will always feel anxious and lost. Once we find God, we realize our life has purpose and meaning. And when we see that everyone we meet also has purpose and meaning, we no longer feel thwarted or frustrated in our desires. We know that the conflict we experience is due to the difference between trusting in false idols or trusting in the one true God. When we have a true desire, it cannot be frustrated, even though we may be surrounded by a culture that worships false idols. The apostle Paul says that we should live our lives in such a way that others can read them like a book. We should always be living in a way that sets an example for others, because our story is the story of redemption. We are not living a normal life, but we have been identified with Christ and Christ now lives in us. Therefore, a healthy life is one that experiences the passions of the heart through desiring God, and in this we forget about ourselves. This is because redemptions exalt Christ. He is the beginning and end of our salvation. He goes out before us like a consuming fire. When we long for our final redemption, we understand that in Christ we will be completely victorious. Our desire is like a king's desire. We will be given our eternal inheritance. We will be rewarded if we understand and experience this flame in our hearts that will not go out. In Christ, we are guaranteed complete victory and an eternal inheritance, but only if we allow the flame of desire to burn in our hearts. Our desire for Christ's redemption is like a fire burning within us. We express this desire with great enthusiasm when we encounter the curse of sin, because we know that the law curses and destroys sin. We follow Christ's example by destroying our enemies on every side, because this is our desire for His redemption like a fire in our souls. The psalmist says that when he was silent, his heart burned within him with desire. So desire that is kept within because of silence is like a flame that burns. This desire that we keep burning is overcoming our desire for physical pain. We cannot succumb to our fleshly desires. We must understand these cursed dispositions and be alert when we are tempted to look away from this one desire.
