If we do not pray, it is an indication that we do not have confidence in God. Additionally, it means that we do not believe that God can help us get through tough situations – we would rather rely on our own strength. However, the Bible provides us with a reason from God's perspective as to why prayer and hope are essential. God must deal with us through a relationship, similar to the relationships we have in the physical world. But the vertical relationship – the one we have with God – defines who we are in these horizontal relationships. God has designed it so that if our vertical relationship is not full of life, we will not be able to enjoy the gifts he has given us to the fullest extent.God has made a way for us to be sure of who we are in this life, and to understand our purpose. He has promised to do everything He has said He will do, from beginning to end. God provides the foundation for this relationship through the covenant of grace. By giving Himself completely through this covenant, He comes to us and establishes this relationship. It would be incredible to have all the answers, all the power, and all the hope of a future that is so amazing we can't even understand it, but still not know or experience everything that God has promised in His covenant.God is omniscient and knows everything about us, including the details of our lives from beginning to end. So why does he want us to pray? Because prayer is really for our benefit. It's a gift from God that promises to always hear us when we ask. Because God always provides us with the basis for being confident in our purpose in this world, and shows us that the way to success is through grace. He has given us everything we have and everything we will ever do through His declaration that His word is true and will always be true. We can only rely on what He says, because there is nothing we can do on our own.The relationship between humans and God is based on communication and trust. People ask for things from God because they believe that he will provide them with what they need. This motivation to ask is based on God's promises to saints, which creates a relationship between them that is built on mutual understanding and support. When people hear God's call to salvation, it motivates them to seek freedom and grace. In His word of salvation, people understand that they are happiest when they are fully dependent on God for everything.God doesn't just promise us that He will provide for us in the future, He gives us a guarantee that everything we need has already been provided for us in His covenant of grace. So we can be confident that we are free from worry and stress because of His grace. Grace is God's provision for everything we need in this life. But to access it all that He asks us to do is to ask Him for it. Because God is not a thing but He is a person. And the problems in the relationship do not originate from His side of the relationship.God not only provides us with everything we need, but He also loves us unconditionally. His word of salvation tells us that we can't fail if we simply ask for what we need. This gives us the confidence to ask for help, knowing that God will always be there for us.
