This creates a sense of hopelessness and despair, leading us to believe we will never be able to break free from the cycle of misery. I think there may be a misunderstanding of the role of the powers that be. These powers are very complex, and each of us has our own unique set of gifts and talents. Our initial reaction as believers is to resist by testing the spirit of a teaching.This usually takes the form of either a concession or a request. For example, the other person may offer to change their behavior in order to make things more comfortable for you, or they may ask for something from you in return for agreeing to a certain arrangement. Then they will change their approach and try to offer something in return for an agreement. In my experience, if they can't get to you through a barrage of accusations, slanders, and sometimes deeply personal insults, they will try to offer you something in return for an agreement.He is skilled in both being a good cop and a bad cop, but we are aware of his tricks and are taught to resist him through the power of the Holy Spirit and the word of God.
