There is a possibility that there is a misunderstanding about the verse that says some people need to be dealt with in a very gentle way, while others need to be pulled out of the fire. This verse is taken out of the context of God's work with His people as a shepherd of His flock. Because of this, there have been many people who have suffered at the hands of really mean leaders. The New Testament teaches us that we should not try to create leaders through some kind of artificial or accelerated process, but rather through the example of Jesus as a shepherd. This is important because there is a tendency to isolate the New Testament teaching on leadership from its original context. The gospel is the medicine that can heal this disconnection and help us to see leadership in its original context. We need to make sure that our message is tailored to developing leadership skills in our discipleship program participants. This means that we need to have two types of people in our discipleship program: those who are sensitive and need little pressure, and those who are resilient and can handle any challenge. The reason people need to be led is because they are not strong enough or wise enough to do it themselves. The goal of leading people is to help them become strong enough to use their gifts in a balanced way. Then you have the more dominant personality. And this is where we begin to think in the terms of a Greek. Because we have a tendency to do a contradiction here. We will distinguish the kind of grace that is necessary for these different personalities. For the sensitive person, we describe a grace that is not as powerful, so it's the cheap kind of grace. And for the more forceful, we describe a more powerful grace.Grace is a divinely given gift that helps us to surmount our difficulties and deepens our relationship with God. It is not something that can be quantified, but it can radically improve our lives for the better. Grace prevents us from sinking into despair and darkness. We don't need to exhaust our resources in order to receive grace; rather, grace is something that takes us from our current state and lifts us up. The bottom line is grace; it is our most free experience. At the bottom is a full understanding of who we are in grace.Grace is often seen as a panacea for all our ills. However, it is not always the way to understand ourselves better. It is a means to bring us to a new understanding. When we are in a difficult situation, we can only rely on grace. When we are down, grace will raise us up. We live in grace. Consequently, both the strong and the weak are made whole by grace. The weak are encouraged to turn to God for strength, while the strong are urged to use their power for the benefit of others. The goal of salvation is to realize that grace is to be lived out and internalized, so that our focus is on God alone. We take pride in the fact that we are all united under one God.
