There is a distinction between steps and grace. He teaches that the steps are the agent of grace. His words are that we are renewed by grace through the mentality of the steps. Let me say that not only does he misrepresent the gospel, but this is a human condition in which we force God to act in a way that He never promised in the gospel of grace. God does not advance His agenda through our time table, through our goals or through our confrontations. Our struggle against the notion that sanctification is merely a by-product of salvation is rooted in our desire for a more intimate relationship with God. We believe that God alone produces righteousness in us, and that renewal is a by-product of the reality of redemption. However, we also acknowledge that God will not act apart from our consent. This is why God, who declares the end from the beginning, uses His own ways to be mysterious to our ways. I mean, if God wanted us to be secure in the steps to sanctification, then He would have clearly said that there is a way that we all can agree on, and I give some men authority to enforce my principles as they were at the door of the wills of men. But God has dogmatically declared that salvation is not in man, so it's not understandable to the view of man. God's ways are not our ways because all of salvation is by grace. God must always gift us apart from our knowing it as a way to advance us.The sanctification process is guided by God's own timetable, with different individuals taking different paths and experiencing different things at different times. This process cannot be fully understood by humans. Sanctification is a by-product of God's plan. There is no evidence to suggest that humans can help God in any way with conversions. This is a self-fulfilling prophecy of abuse.
