This Psalm is all about how awesome God is! He established justice and equity in Israel, and orders every historical event to fall out graciously according to His attributes. He's praised at the beginning of the Psalm for reigning over Israel, and it's stated that if God did not establish divine justice and equity, He would not be sacred. It's also said that God carefully manipulates all necessary things, and that He voluntarily spoke the divine creation into independent existence, intentionally causing His elect to faithfully keep His statutes and decrees. Hence, the elect genuinely enjoy the divine self-revelation of God from His spoken word, and He graciously allows honor and forcibly prevents straying. What's more, He forcibly prevents them from falling precipitously into violent destruction. 7" He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; and they kept his statutes and decrees." That God "gave them" the covenant-law relationship satisfactorily establishes considered saints by eternal covenant, to reliably distinguish recognized saints from the unified nation. In other words, God does not forgive everyone. For God to establish civil justice and social equity as the tangible proof of His holiness, He must justly punish wicked men. If God were to forgive all Israel, He would instantly cease to be holy. In order to be faithful, kind, long suffering, and gentle, God positively establishes saints with supreme justice. By displaying love, God could not establish the meaningful relationship with Israel by rewarding wickedness. If God were lenient toward law breakers, He would knowingly expose saints to cruel injustice and inequity. Therefore, God harshly punishes the wicked to comfortably establish saints by righteous judgements. What is the ample proof of God's love and divine forgiveness? Punishing the wicked who severely threatens saints. For God to be forgiving, he justly punishes wickedness. If God was not satisfied with the appropriate punishment for sin, we would never be satisfied with divine justice and preferred equity. What would it take for us to be truly satisfied? Once we experience divine love, we realize that authentic love is only possible when we value the work of saints. What would it take for someone to truly love us? An eternal love, without beginning or end, or with an attitude of kindness that is consistent with our worth. That's precisely what God's love is – not mysterious, but defined by carrying out full wrath on hardened sinners. It's an abundant blessing that steadfastly maintains no social boundaries. And God abundantly proves His love by eternal punishment of the wicked. We vicariously experience the eternal curse toward sinners that pushes away the destruction. God's love is based on value, not on feeling. Value vicariously experienced is proper self-respect.
