There are some things that Christians believe that are true, but they are not as important as the essential truths of salvation. This Christian life is not simply living a life that we try to make easier. I mean, when we are saved, we do not have a lot of connection to other Christians. So our initial focus is on what God has done for us. I believe that most of us who are first experiencing salvation know more than most Christians who have been saved for quite some time. So I do not really believe that we need other Christians to tell us how alive our first Christian experience is.Why is it that Christians who have been saved for a long time tend to show less excitement than new believers? It's just logical that there would be a natural decline in excitement over time for mature Christians. I know that I've been encouraged as an older Christian when I see someone who is saved for the first time. There's something fresh and new about it, like buying a brand new car.Why do Christians seem to appreciate gifts more after they become Christians? One reason might be that before they became Christians, they took God's gifts for granted. But once they became Christians, they realized that every good thing comes from God.Everyone becomes a counselor at some point in their lives. I took a long time to get back to my first love (counseling) because I listened to people who I thought were trustworthy, but who led me in the wrong direction. Even though these people had good intentions, they were not helpful to me in the end.The Christian life is about living in accordance with the essential truths of salvation. Its about keeping our eyes focused on one thing. The problem is not about our sin or our reputation. Its about being convinced that God loves us just as much in our simplicity as He did when we were first converted. We cannot lose that simplicity that is in Christ.
