The fact that it is active is significant. I cannot recall saying that it was not active. However, our active position should be toward the glory of God. In this sense, then, when we are discussing behavior, it is sanctified by giving God the glory, rather than the other way around. All the work we do is a result of our desire to love Christ, which sums up the law. That is why Christ says evil does not come from external sources, but from the heart. We have the ability to think and reason, and this allows us to attach importance to our understanding as the cause of being pleased with the images. This is not just from a physical perspective, but we have also been given spiritual eyes. This understanding is very powerful because it is at the source of all that we do. We act out of our understanding of Christ, and because we have been given these spiritual senses, we are able to discern the nature of all things that exist. We view nature not from a scientific standpoint, but rather see the wisdom that is not of this world. We see the wisdom of God. Nature takes on a different dimension in our understanding. Instead of looking at it through a microscope, we are looking at it through the eyes of our understanding. That is why the apostle prays that the eyes of our understanding may be enlightened. Because we have a reaction as we gaze on these things. We look and then begin to rejoice in His glory and wisdom, seeing His hand in these things as the beauty. So we are rejoicing in Him. All of this is a cause and effect movement on our souls, whereby we are being enlightened by this illumination. We know God exists in all glory, even though we cannot see His glory directly. We are sure of His existence because of the wisdom of creation. And then we understand He has power beyond our understanding, seeing that we could not duplicate the smallest living thing in this earth. We not only live in this understanding we partake of created things every day. we enjoy these things. This desire is deepened in us as we grow in our understanding of God. is greatly helped along by our enjoying the things He has made. In this sense, it is mixed with pleasure in the taking the world would never experience. Because its not in the thing itself nor is it in the physical senses but it is in the glory of the unseen . We take pleasure because we know the things come directly from our loving Father. We are constantly made aware of God's great kindness and rejoice in knowing that everything was given to us to enjoy from His bountiful grace. Although our physical senses may fade away, we can still take pleasure in the spiritual enjoyment that is renewed every day.Our enjoyment of earthly pleasures is a precursor to our spiritual enjoyment of God. We would gladly exchange the temporary pleasure of earthly things for the permanent pleasure. Until the day when our bodies die and we are finally able to be with God in heaven, where all our spiritual longings will be satisfied. When we behold Him in His revelation and our understanding of His attributes is illuminated, we are looking at something that is not earthly. Our hearts begin to feel His faithfulness as a new pleasure in all of His attributes, which we sense as unfailing love. For God is love. This is all the activity of a saint.
