I am speaking from a man's perspective, so I do not mean to ignore the problems on both sides. However, men pride themselves on achieving success. I grew up living and breathing sports. Sports is good because we learn that if we are successful, there are rewards and respect that we get as a by-product. How would you feel if you excelled at something at a young age, say 8 years old, and you had adults coming up to you showing great respect? It is sort of the problems that come with being famous but on a much smaller level. So you learn that working hard equals success. The Bible teaches that aggression is not just displayed in an attempt to achieve success and rewards, but that it starts with the way we speak about ourselves in light of the truth of God's word. Every time the Bible describes a liar, it is always followed by how they speak with threats to God's ways. God considers threats to be how we view our own power in comparison to God's power. We might be the most outwardly moral-looking person, or we could do some really bad sins, and it would not be how God measures wickedness. God says that taking glory for ourselves is making war with Him.And making war with Him is His measure of wickedness. God doesn't have a sliding scale; it's either we are on the side of blame (that is, we are a friend of a friend of the wicked) or we are on the side of love (which is we are a friend of God who is a friend of a friend of God). When men are blind to God's ways they are naturally mean and aggressive to woman. It is impossible for men to live as cheerleaders to their wives if they do not understand God's grace. There are only two kinds of creative methods: one is aggressive and wicked, and comes from a self-made man. A self-made man is a man who is his own god. This man does not believe that everything he has is gifted to him by God, so he seeks to control everything through aggression. Let me say that a coward is a man who uses language to control other people. A coward is someone who is threatened by the success of others. It is impossible for men to truly rejoice in the success of others in his natural state.God has put an end to all blame and aggression simply by speaking life and death. God does not need to speak threatening words in order to control His people. On the other hand, God makes a covenant with His people that He will order all things for their good and for His glory. He calls this the covenant of redemption. God only has two ways. Either He is worse than He seems, or He is far greater and worthy than we could imagine. The reason that God is absolute in His judgements is because one small word can determine the course of a persons life. Gods measurements are much different than ours. For example, God must destroy the words of aggression and blame. He must rule by good over evil.It can be difficult for us to let go of our aggression. We may think that God needs to intervene in a forceful way to get us to change our ways. However, God teaches us to love by first loving us. He orders all things to be good because His disposition cannot be thwarted. God has an eternal loving disposition that shines through our lives. He reduces us to being beneath others through blessing us with gifts by being humble. We learn that there are far greater rewards to be had in being cheerleaders than in being aggressive.
