For anyone who is serious about upholding the law, even if they make a single mistake, is ashamed of their efforts. I am addressing a group of people who will be subject to a law that always has the force of law. A person is justified not by keeping the law, but by believing in Jesus Christ. This law always gives people the freedom to do what they want.I hope that by speaking to this group, I can help them overcome their fear of death and give them hope for the future. You have been set free from the shackles of sin and have become slaves to the eternal righteousness of God. The Lord is with me as I proclaim good news to those who have been through much pain. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the captives and an amazing recovery of sight for the blind, to set free the people who have been crushed. When the Lord is present, law is duly authorized. Christ has set us free from the chains of our own desires, granting us the freedom to do what we want. When you were under the control of sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. Stand firm now and refuse to be held back by the control of slavery again. Some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks in order to undermine our freedom in Christ Jesus, and to make us slaves. Why should someone else's conscience be the arbiter of my authorization? At a high price, you were purchased by a kind and compassionate Christ. Do not let anyone control you. When you couldn't understand God, you were at the mercy of those who do not have the power to be gods. Since you have been set free from sin, you have become slaves to God. This special blessing leads to piety and eternal life. You have also died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you might belong to another—to him who was raised from the dead. This break from the law allows us to serve in the new way of the Spirit, rather than in the old way of the written code. The law cannot justify anyone. Through Christ Jesus, I have been set free from the law of sin and death. The law of nature was no longer my enemy. It had freed me from its constraints, and Christ faced only the consequences of my actions. He knew that sinful people required punishment to uphold the righteous demands of the law. Christ is the end of the law, meaning that everyone who believes in Him will be able to find salvation. Christ has also given us freedom – a gift that is guaranteed. You were bought at a price; don't let yourself become a slave to men. Why should my right to freedom be judged by someone else's personal opinion? Who are you to condemn someone else's servant? The Lord can make him stand, no matter what he decides. I refuse to be defined by what others think is important to them--I will not be judged by how they look. God sees people for their true nature, not their accomplishments or failures. Believing in Jesus is not punishable. The solid foundation of the kingdom of God stands, sealed with the inscription, "The Lord identifies his own." The inscription is a reminder to God's people of how powerful and important he is, and of his ability to guide their lives.
