Ps 36 4 "Even on his bed he plots evil; he commits himself to a sinful course and doesn't reject what's wrong. 5 Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies." These verses provide different endorsement that God accepts, depending on how closely they match the individual's personal beliefs. For some, this authorization may be quite strong; for others, it may be more tentative. The verses that follow provide authorization for this act. The second verse asks a question that is deeply connected to the human heart: is it really necessary to create something new in order to discover God's will? This is a clear teaching about apparent impotence. Its brilliance is based on a deep understanding of how the mind works. Finite Man struggles to get approvals to do things at the highest level. It can be seen as a sign of weakness to be unable to shoulder the emotional burden of another person's problems. The Psalms are concerned with the deep problems that plague the present world, which are characterized by rampant depravity. The point is not that a person commits moral evil, but that he is unable to contribute to the highest good of his neighbor because of depravity. God's love is unlike any other love in the world. It is infinitely greater, more powerful, and more eternal. He proclaims that God's love is real and unique, far beyond anything else in the world. He assumes that if God were not sovereign, there would be no guarantee of His authority, as there would be no divine appearance of eternal allegiance. What would be the consequences for humanity if we were reduced to the level of our political beliefs? The Psalms depict the world as a place where man is reduced to the level of the animals in the field, constantly struggling for survival. God is the one who creates the effectual earth on His own, and man cannot create it on their own. So, in a gracious manner, God confers creative authority to Himself by blessing and cursing. God sets the bar high for living, where people work hard and are responsible. When saints need extra help, He reaches down to provide it. He gives them the divine support they need to overcome their struggles.  "6 Your righteousnesses is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O LORD, you preserve both man and beast."
