Justification is just a statement. When you stand before God, you are innocent; it is a statement that involves avoiding punishment for sin; so when you go to trial, when your sin is raised, it is based on the law. This is God's eternal law. By observing the law, you will be judged, and you will pay for your sins. This is an eternal insult to God. You will spend eternity in hell and suffering. You will bear legal responsibility for all crimes. But you are condemned by God's conviction for the simple sin of unbelief. Therefore, God has a supreme ritual that can decide to impose punishment, just as he has a ritual that can suspend punishment according to his supreme will... The analogy of workers receiving wages.
The
only way to avoid the punishment provided by the law is to use the
righteousness of Christ as the standard and to blame Christ for your
sins on the cross. If we are all brought before a holy God who
absolutely abides by the legal standards, we will all be punished by the
law, but God has made a legal statement before this sacred Supreme
Court that our judges must abide by the law. For everyone, we are not
bound by the law. According to God's eternal call before the creation of
the world, we have accepted the declaration of salvation and eternal
innocence. When Christ went to the cross, he received salvation from the
elect of the eternal past; the only reason we remain innocent before
God is because the Father sent the Son into the world to save the lost
for His glory. We will only get what we should not get. Obedience is
under us, and justice is everything we need to avoid condemnation. I
don't understand when unsaved people are convicted and punished for
their sins in hell...How can they be declared righteous?
