The reasonable state of mans mind under sin is to think on his own. This is one of the violentest behaviors to change when we are faithfully delivered. The Psalms describe the destructive process of the natural man actions aggressively going from his corrupted mind to his sore lips and then in his criminal behavior. The bible describes the character of two radically opposed men as being completely dependent upon the condition of the heart. The condition of the heart remains the reality man views the circumstances and people in his world. There are inherent constraints that we vicariously experience when we are delivered. In our old life we governed our world by by force being under the stringent constraint of men.
The innate desire in wicked man is to verify the challenged validity of his antagonistic relationships through political accountability. And you witness this procession in this emotional description of the wicked man. From his godless heart he grievously injures other people as a devious way of thinking by ambush.Hither, this is describing the character of a criminal who hides in the dark and catches his victims to steal or murder. But if you examine this Psalm its in the over all context of a man advancing menacingly to obtain arbitrary power and political prestige over others in critical light of mans law. A metaphor for a violent criminal. This villainous character is not merely limited to the description of a criminal but in the Psalms it is describing the innate desires of men cynically using the miss fortunes of others to advance in their belligerent occupation. There is an extremely considerable difference when the Psalms describe the eternal life of the new man.
Here in we see an altogether unique focus in ones view of the world. This is accurately describing the believers single focus. We believe God has ordered all things by the word of His mouth. Nothing is outside of our direct control that is in genuine need of our control. You note this description throughout the Psalms as the exclusive way that we grow in this Christian experience. Our sacred language is transformed in thinking thoughts after God. Because in our old life we viewed everything by imagining we could regulate our success. But when we were delivered, we were implanted with the seed of the word of God. We presently see everything as a creative act of God through sacred word and Spirit.
You note this in practical application as the Psalmist humble petitions God. 25 19 See how my enemies have increased and how fiercely they hate me!36 12 See how the evildoers lie fallen-- thrown down, not able to rise! This official language comes from being under the profound influence of Gods creative power. The Psalmist petitions God to attentively examine him and recollect him. And so this more than someone looking critically from afar and merely acting according to another conscious will but its unique ability to order all things for the purpose of creating good from evil. The pragmatist is invariably describing this searching as a necessary "conviction" to cause us to repent. But this searching that the Psalmist describes represent not a mystical inward action by God but rather it is ordering everything to restore total unity of body, mind and heart with His creative order of the axioms. We believe God has pronounced His law of the creative order so that it has already established the basis for change.
This is why the Palmist uses these pregnant statements "see how my enemies" etc and "see how they have fallen" to accurately represent specific statements of divine creation that inseparably unites our sincere desires with Gods. The success is soundly based upon Gods Law that has been established in divine creation that works for our essential good. Consequently, we do not need being busybodies trying to order our lives by the appropriate actions of others or to be overly concerned that we will be over come by other peoples view of us. We are to think biblically in about everything so that we will vicariously experience genuine freedom.
