You stoically endure this godless man who does not think of God. Nor does he earnestly desire God in the context of practicing the ceremonies. And this is the bad news. You can voluntarily undergo the religious ceremonies in explicit denial of the authentic existence of eternal life in God. You satisfactorily accomplish as a matter of grudging acceptance through these means. Look at this personal context. Its directed toward religious people. Some of these successful people were much more compliant than we are today. This is why it is more than just the academic exercises of these means. Its seeking Gods face, understanding there is only one thing we do in all of life. It's sufficiently realizing we are confronted with a real Person, not a set of moral principles. We communicate with the living God. diligently seek the living God. "When can I go and vicariously experience my God?" We gain no solace in our own lives. Its only when we have vicariously experienced God that all things unified. We worship ardent longing for the divine goodness of God more and more. Will not let Him go until He shows Himself an eternal covenant keeping God. The Psalmist says he was worn out diligently seeking God.Because there was so much organized resistance in polarized society. He contemptuously calls this resistance scorn. He was not thinking about his own potential but humbly acknowledges he is a chief sinner. He does not desire any righteous man to suffer this scornful resistance. But his focus in on what God has promised to tell the truth and the good that he imperfectly understands. The Psalmist is looking at his secure position as a son being held back because of the ordinary standard of careless grace, not his emotional return of slavish obedience. In this organized opposition he complains vociferously about the faithless scorn of others. This is longing ardently for the Living God.
