Ps 31 8 You have not handed me over to the enemy
but have set my feet in a spacious place. "
The Psalms teach that sin is the reason there is violence in the world. All men are born in sin. They are dead in their sins and cannot establish peace in relationships.They are alienated from God and are unable to promote peace in society. They are in a state of condemnation which is the fertile ground for all hatred and violence. The Psalms describe the presence of the curse as carrying the unreasonable anger of self hatred. They have no way of finding peace through atonement. They under the power of guilt, fear, and sorrow.
In this violent experience is the way that they form their idols. Their idols enforce their power to developing inferior relationships. They enforce their standards through guilt, fear, and sorrow. In this circular reasoning they are unable to love themselves. God calls the curse an act of violence by an idol worshiper that must be satisfied in the destruction of Gods elect. This is the reason that the Psalmist reacts to the wicked in the spirit of divine wrath. 6" I hate those who cling to worthless idols;I trust in the LORD". It is the same thing as saying that I am loved by God. Because it is seeking to be separated from the danger of attack and destruction. The spacious place represents being in Jerusalem protected by the walls in which there is no violence in the streets. Or it is the victory in war.
The biblical standard of real love is not universal acceptance of mankind. But its elect who overcome all opposition. 20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men;
in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues. The Psalms teach that all cultures are developed by the plans of man. The wicked plan evil on their beds. These plans are refined and developed from one generation to another. The plans are the redefinition of Gods law..Gods creation ordnance. This is the conspiracy of violence that defines Gods people as slaves. "intrigues of men" and "accusing tongues"
All relationships are established by Gods law being carried out. When a person is redefined according to the culture of idols he is under the attack of blame,fear and sorrow. 17 Let me not be put to shame, O LORD ,for I have cried out to you;but let the wicked be put to shame and lie silent in the grave." We must understand that human anger is expressed as self love in the elect. Love is responding to evil to protect the abused. We must understand that a culture that defines people in violence of idol worship is the same thing as being an abusive culture. God must respond to the abuse in divine wrath. To speak the curses is to develop an understanding of the level of evil in order to reason out the kind of abuse that is destroying the elect. It is to understanding the lines that are crossed that redefine the natural love in relationships.To accept abuse in this redefinition is to hate ones neighbor and oneself. To love ones neighbor is to hate the abuse with divine wrath..or the pronouncement of the curse. 18 Let their lying lips be silenced,for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.
