jn 17 is explaining the eternal Sonship of Christ. The Trinity is one in essence and 3 in persons. Each person in the trinity has a separate identity, a separate self, in which each person has a consciousness , a pleasure in the glorification of the persons receiving glory in oneness giving and receiving love. The Father loves the Son, the Son loves the Father, the Spirit brings glory to Father and Son. They are giving love and receiving love in oneness. This post smells of the i -it syndrome. You seem to be saying the bread and wine are equal to identifying with Christ.
Every thing we believe
has consequences. We understand love by understanding Christ. We are to worship
Christ with all of our minds. We are not pragmatist in being
disconnected in identifying with Christ. We are always under the obligation to think correctly by an understanding outside of our natural thinking of the truths in light of
the scripture and by the Holy Spirit. Unless our minds are
transformed with propositional truth and the Spirits application we will not understand how to approach God in worship.
The trinity relates as the Father is in the Son, Son in the Father and we in the Son share in the oneness of Father and Son. We are Sons by adoption not by transubstantiation.
Believing that we are somehow taking the bread as the body of Christ is idolatry. In Christ we know the voice of
the Father that separates the truth of
the proposition from false teaching. We learn to hate
idols by correct teaching of Christ. It is much better to know the truth and not be
able to keep it, than to not know the truth and create an idol. These propositions from scripture
affect the desires of our hearts before we even are able to make the
choices. The more we are deceived in our minds will be dominate by our imagination not by spiritual
understanding. Our desires will be directly effected
by this lack of knowledge and we will be carnally minded.
