Ps 10 1 Why, O LORD , do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?"
When man sinned he was not only cursed with destruction , but he was
put in bondage to thinking and speaking in order to prove that he is his
own god. The entire creation was cursed with being placed on the road
to destruction and only desiring to travel toward the destructive
destination. So the Psalmist describes
man as not just wanting to break the law of God but being dumb enough
not to avoid the self destruction that awaits him. This is why God had
to take the curse upon himself in His substitution for His elect.
Because the atonement not only saved man from destruction but God turned
the light on all of the opposition to man being saved. The Psalms
describe two kinds of men. It is written as the light to reveal the
thoughts and schemes of those who live in the dark not understanding the
destructive dangers. We must understand that God gives us assurance by
revealing to us that we are sinners and describing the opposition that
we face as unnatural to our way of thinking.
In teaching us
about who we are , the Psalmist describes to us the thoughts of the
blind sinner. The old adage is if you do not study the enemy then you
will be deceived. So God is giving us such an advantage as we live in
this curse world in describing the unseen thoughts of sinners in order
to disarm the danger by getting us to understand how foolish and
powerless their attempts are. I call this growing down by cursing the
curse.
This Psalm is written in order for us to see that our
frustrations with the abuse that we experience in living in this world
is important because it points to the extremely complicated scheme that
is woven from one generation to another in getting us to understand the
seriousness of evil. We are always taught a way of thinking in order to
understand who God is and who we are. And the Psalmist describes the
evils as rising up to mystery by the extreme nature of the curses in
order for us to experience the distance of our fall because of the first
sin. In describing the mysterious reactions of God we are learning
about who God is and thus who we are. The scripture is Gods revelation
to us of the unseen spiritual war that is being fought in the secret
places of society. God is teaching us the reality of the thoughts and
words of the wicked man in order to apply the law correctly as we gain
an understanding even tho we cannot understand as God does. The curses
that we speak contain both the revealed and mysterious control over the
evil.
We must understand that every person knows reality by
their view. There may be a trillion views of the world but there is only
one reality. You see the reality of every kind of thing and person is
how God describes them. And the Psalms describe real reality. The real
reality is both part of our logic and mysterious to us. Even tho we
cannot understand the mysterious thoughts of God, the 6 axioms that we
speak as we react to Gods description of all things are worked out
according to Gods understanding.. We have real power.
The
Psalmist is describing evil as God sees it from its very conception. The
Psalmist is giving us the 6 axioms in response to sin as it is
conceived in the beginning so that we react with real feelings and
understanding. We are using Gods words that are beyond our understanding
so that we apply the power that is beyond our ability. We are bringing
judgement together with eternity in waiting for the final judgement. 15
Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his
wickedness
that would not be found out."
